Ugandan Genocide
During the 1960’s into the 1970’s Idi Amin held a high position within the military. In January 25, 1971 while the Prime Minister Milton Obote was visiting SIngapore, Idi Amin staged a coup after Obote questioned Amin’s loyalty. While in power Idi Amin had the Christian tribes Acholi and Lango executed and organized a strict police called the State Research Bureau and the Public Safety Unity. He also expelled the Asian population of 50.000 to 70,000 which severely crippled the economy. The to be expelled victims were rescued by Israeli Commandos and as a result, Idi Amin killed an old British hostage and many Kenyans who were believed to have conspired with the Commandos.Idi Amin was estimated to have killed approximately 300,000 civilians. When Idi Amin was forced to flee to LIbya because of a war between Tanzania and Uganda he remained without any consequences. He moved to Saudi Arabia shortly after and died in 2003 of multiple organ failure.
